Hello again!

Thanks for wanting to learn more about me! My name is Jen Black and I'm an artist, healer, graphic designer, and budding Herbalist. I relocated to Asheville, North Carolina in 2019 after living in California for 8 years and predominantly working in the wine industry as a graphic designer. Moving to Asheville was the big kick in the butt I needed to finally start pursuing a career path that lit me up inside.

It may seem like my various offerings are an odd mix but to me they are all forms of “designing” aspects of your life. My advice is this:

DESIGN THE LIFE YOU LOVE, TO LIVE THE LIFE YOU DREAM.

What does that mean? Whatever your dream life looks like it, actively work toward that goal no matter how small or insignificant the steps may feel. As an energy healer, I offer distance sessions to clients around the world, focusing on clearing and balancing chakras, emotional release work, healing physical pain, and helping my clients manifest their goals. I’m passionate about helping others along their healing journey and am continually adding new healing modalities to better facilitate this.

Which brings me to Transformational Hypnosis, which is my favorite modality yet, and I can’t wait to share these powerful healing sessions with everyone! There are so many directions that these sessions can go and it’s amazing to see what deep healing can be done through hypnosis work. Past life regressions are some of my favorite hypnosis sessions to facilitate. I’ve been fascinated with past lives and reincarnation since I was a teenager and my first regression was done when I was 17. It’s amazing what insight you can gain in your current life once you recognize the repeating patterns from previous lifetimes.

The primary goal behind all of my small batch personal care products is to nourish the body, mind, and soul. They are so much more than just skincare products…they are healing tools. Each product is created with a specific intention in mind and there is so much love and healing energy poured into each product. I create each oil blend that goes into the products using my intuition, a pendulum, and also by meditating and asking my guides for help. My hope is that these products encourage adding self care to your daily routine while also providing you with products that are healthier for your home and body.

All of the products that I create are Reiki-infused to enhance the healing properties of the herbs, crystals, and essential oils that are used in each blend. My small batch personal care products are naturally made with as few ingredients as possible to provide healthy options to soothe your skin. Even the wearable art is handmade with positive intentions and Reiki-infused for love, abundance, and happiness so that you can experience that positive energy each time you wear your jewelry. I love to combine my passion for art and healing to create unique products for the mind, body, and spirit.

IT ALL STARTED FROM MY LOVE OF ART…

While growing up, I was always drawing or painting and my love of art has never stopped. I knew that my career had to involve being creative which is why I gravitated toward graphic design. I’ve been working professionally as a graphic designer since 2003 and although I love the work I do, I spent years feeling called to do something that would help people on a personal level. Reiki seemed like the perfect step in that direction and after completing my first certification in December of 2018 I am now attuned through Reiki III, which means I’m a Reiki Master, and I provide Reiki sessions to people around the world (via distance or in-person). I’m regularly adding healing modalities and am also a Sacred Soul Alignment practitioner, a certified crystal healer, and a hypnotist offering Transformational Hypnosis sessions. Graphic design can sometimes feel limiting from a creative standpoint so I turned back to painting as a way to express my creativity. I decided to combine my love of art and healing to create Reiki-infused art for your body, your home, and your office.

THE STORY OF ALCHEMY + HERBS AND HOW IT ALL BEGAN WITH A SOAP MAKING CLASS…

After years of dealing with multiple health issues I began removing as many toxins from my life as possible. Since the skin is the largest organ of our body, I knew that was a great place to start. In January of 2020 I began making cold process soap mainly with the intention of using it for myself or gifting it to friends and relatives. I was shocked and thrilled to see a skin issue I had been dealing with for over five years on my arms cleared up within two weeks of using the soap I had made. On a whim I brought a few bars to an event where I was selling my Reiki-infused wearable art and to my surprise they sold! So I made another batch with a different scent and those sold those at my next event. People began telling me how much they loved my soap and started requesting more scents. The essential oils I chose for each scent were specifically picked due to their healing properties for various skin conditions and some for their aromatherapy benefits. I loved learning about the healing abilities of different herbs and decided to enroll in the herbalism program in April of 2020 to continue to build my knowledge.

In October of 2020 I hosted my first virtual sale in a private Facebook group and felt compelled to create something really unique for that sale. I was hearing over and over from people about how stressed and overwhelmed they felt after months of dealing with lockdowns and a global pandemic. As someone who is extremely empathic I knew the most important things that could help were clearing, grounding, and protecting your energy regularly so I created the Empath Trio soaps. I was floored by the reaction and positive feedback I received once people started using my soaps, especially the huge impact the Empath Trio soaps had. At the end of the year I had numerous requests for custom holiday gifts to help people with these same issues and that was when I started developing the blends for the oils, sprays, and bath salts. In a nutshell, that’s how Alchemy + Herbs was born. 

INSPIRATION AND GIVING BACK…

I find my inspiration while spending time in nature, traveling the world, listening to music (especially live), gazing into crystals, and just from simple things in everyday life. When I'm not working you can find me working in my yard, meditating, doing rituals, exploring the Asheville area, enjoying amazing food and wine, volunteering at a local kitten rescue, or relaxing at home with my husband and our two rescue cats. I’m a huge animal lover and giving back is also important to me so I currently volunteer once a week at the Esther Neonatal Kitten Rescue which is an amazing organization. If you live in the Asheville area and are looking to support a local non-profit, they are always in need of more volunteers and of course they’re always happy to receive donations. You can also just set up a time to stop by for a visit and receive some kitten therapy.
