How To Make A Gemstone Elixir
There are so many ways you can work with crystals to take advantage of their healing and metaphysical properties. Gemstone elixirs are an easy way to bring their energy into your life. If you’ve never worked with crystals this way, you may want to give it a try!
The idea is that when we drink the elixir it will cause physical shifts in the body as it heals our own molecular structure as it aligns it more closely with the energy of the crystal. Quartz are commonly used in elixirs and many people describe feeling an almost immediate charge after drinking a quartz elixir.
You’ve probably seen the various glass water bottles available that have separate enclosed spaces to add crystals and these are essentially forms of gemstone elixirs. Some of the crystal water bottles have a permanent crystal that sits directly in the water but I don’t recommend this style. These water bottles are wonderful products but can be a bit pricey (some are over $100) so I’ll explain how you can easily make your own gemstone elixirs using items you already have in your home.
When making a gemstone elixir always be sure to use purified, distilled, or filtered water. It is also important to only use a glass jar and not a plastic one since chemicals from plastic can leach into your elixir. You can buy a special glass jar to only use for this purpose, use an old mason jar, or you can save a glass jar (pasta sauce, salsa, etc.) next time you’re cooking and use that.
There are a few ways you can make your crystal elixir. The easiest way is to place the crystal of choice on top of a glass jar of water and leave it outside for at least twenty four hours to soak up the sun and moon’s healing life force. If you do not have twenty four hours to soak the crystal it is preferable to leave the elixir out in the sun for as long as you can. Unless the moon is full, the sun tends to charge water faster.
You can get more elaborate and surround the jar with crystals or even place the jar in the middle of a crystal grid to charge. If you feel strongly that you want to crystals to be inside the water while it charges, you can use a smaller glass jar or glass test tube to prevent the water from coming into direct contact with the crystal. Always remember that if you plan to consume the elixir, the indirect method is always the safest.
Although my recommendation is to never place the crystals directly into the water (if you plan to consume it), some people still prefer this method. If you decide to place the crystals directly into the water, please research the crystal you plan on using beforehand and make sure it is 100% safe to use. If you do not plan to consume the elixir and will only use it for ritual purposes or to water plants, you can place the crystal directly into the water while it charges.
I hope you decide to give gemstone elixirs a try! This can be a really healing and restorative ritual to add to your life. Feel free to experiment with different crystals to see what works for you. You may want to keep a journal of the different gemstone elixirs you make and how you feel when you drink them. You can also purchase journals and tumbled crystals from our shop pages.
